Samsung to Announce Google-Enabled TVs in January

Samsung plans to announce the launch of TVs that support Google TV technology in January, Yoon Boo Keun, head of Samsung’s TV division, said in Seoul.

Google TV was unveiled earlier this year at Google I/O. It brings search capabilities, web surfing, Android (Android) apps, and services such as YouTube (YouTube), Hulu (Hulu), Netflix, Pandora (Pandora) and Twitter (Twitter) to your TV.

In October, Sony unveiled a range of Internet-connected TVs supporting the service. Sony’s Google TV-enabled TVs come with 24-inch, 32-inch, 40-inch and 46-inch screens; they all have HD capabilities, with prices ranging from $599 to $1,399.

Details about Samsung’s upcoming TVs are mostly unknown; Yoon Boo Keun did, however, say that Samsung is “open” to using Intel’s chips for its TVs.
