Yahoo Launches Google Trends-Like Service

Yahoo has unveiled a free trend-tracking service, called Yahoo Clues, which displays information about popular queries, search volume and demographic information of searchers from the last 30 days. The service is available only in the U.S.

Facebook Announces Two Talent Acquisitions

Facebook (Facebook) announced that it has made two talent-based acquisitions on Tuesday. One, Walletin, was a stealth startup founded by the former CTO of Linden Labs (makers of Second Life), Cory Ondrejka, and the previous CTO of gaming company Cryptic Studios, Bruce Rogers. The other was Zenbe, which helped create Facebook’s new messaging product.

Hulu Plus Drops Price to $7.99

Hulu (Hulu)’s premium service Hulu Plus, which launched as a preview in July and recently opened up to everyone, is now out of testing and has a new price tag of $7.99 per month.

Google Gets into the Fashion Business

Google (Google) has launched a personalized online fashion shop at Boutiques.com, which allows U.S. users to visually search and discover fashion goods, as well as create their own fashion boutiques.

  • Twitter (Twitter) has updated its official iPhone app to support push notifications for direct messages and mentions.
  • Meebo has announced its Series D Tuesday, which includes $25 million of funding led by Khosla Ventures.
  • Foursquare (foursquare) introduced a new section of its site, appropriately dubbed Trophy Case, to help users keep track of (and show off) the various badges they have earned from the service and its partners.
